    Caulerpa Prolifera is a beautiful macroalgae species, offering long blades which can grow up to 20-30 cm long.
    The fronds are attached to a thick rhizome which will attach itself to rock which means it will need to be restricted in the tank.
    Caulerpa Prolifera will add a great natural look to the marine tank. This algae can adapt better to various water conditions than Caulerpa Taxifolia.

    Light
    The Caulerpa Prolifera macroalgae needs just a medium strong lighting to grow well.

    Palatable
    This macroalgae is very rarely eaten, although some marine algae eating fishes might nip on it time to time.

    Attaching
    As this Caulerpa algae species will attach itself to rock etc. we recommend not to place it too close to your main rock, unlike you like to have it there. It needs some trimming and care. Great to keep in the refugium/sump as well for nitrate and phosphate removal.

    Caulerpa Case
    Some Caulerpa macroalgae species might go sexual, which means that it releases gametes and tissue into the aquarium water. Although this said, we never had in 14 years any problem with this algae species, and it was one of our first macroalgae we got. One thing to avoid this is good light and to remove pale turning parts of it. This algae species is much harder than other Caulerpa species like Caulerpa Taxifolia and therefore there is a low risk  that it will go sexual.

    Trimming
    Whitish parts of this algae should be removed as they are decomposing.

    Treatment
    Like for most marine macroalgae a higher level of Nitrate and Phosphate, in addition to the supplement of Iron, Magnesium and Trace elements will improve the growth of this live algae.

    Placement
    This macroalgae can be either placed in the Refugium where it would need an enclosed space or in the marine Display Tank.

    As Caulerpa Prolifera doesn't need very strong light it will do normally very well in the Aquarium Display too, but bear in mind that it will attach itself to rock etc.

    It provides great holdfasts for Seahorses.

    All macro algae will be thoroughly dipped in a professional solution to deactivate hitchhikers as good as possible before posting. If you don't want this, please send us a message together with your order.

    We highly recommend nonetheless that you properly quarantine anything new before adding it to your marine tank.
