    This Chaeto algae is a very fine species which grows much more fine than other Chaeto algae, almost as fine as hair.  This makes it a brilliant algae choice for feeding herbivore fishes like Tang & Foxface to keep them happy and healthy. We do not recommend this chaeto algae species for the main purpose of nutrients removal, as it grows slower than our fastest growing chaeto which you can find HERE.

    Please Note
    This Chaeto is a very fine structured algae that will arrive clumped together and needs shaking up in the refugium again to loosen it up. And it may come with Copepods & Rotifers. Although we dip it before posting it is possible that some of them will be still between the algae. Please do not buy this algae when you expect an as clean macroalgae as we otherwise offer.

    This is a different Chaeto species to the ones you'll often find, as it is finer in the structure ( see comparison pictures ) and herbivore fishes will happily eat this one. 

    It is best placed in the sump/refugium with a sufficient more reddish light. We do not recommend using it in algae reactors as it can clog the outlet.

    Light
    The Chaetomorpha / Chaeto algae loves the light, as the more you provide as fast it will grow. We have seen just by using the Kessil H380 macroalgae grow light that it can get actually burned when this light is hung below 1 ft from the water surface.

    Palatable
    This Chaetomorpha algae species is for medium to larger algae-eating marine fishes palatable.

    Attaching
    It is not invasive and will rarely attach itself. A great choice for the refugium for nutrients export.

    Trimming
    Whitish parts of the Chaeto should be removed as they are decomposing.

    Treatment
    Like for most marine macroalgae a higher level of Nitrate and Phosphate, in addition to the supplement of Iron, Magnesium and Trace elements will improve the growth of this live algae.

    Our macro algae are from fish free macroalgae tanks, although we use sometimes pictures for demonstration purposes only which will include fishes, seahorses and or corals. 
    We do our best to quarantine, treat and remove any unwanted hitchhikers, parasites etc from our macro algae but we can not guarantee that the algae are completely free of anything unwanted, not limited to Copepods, Rotifers etc. This is simply because that sometimes eggs, spores, etc can remain viable but not visible and hitchhikers can still stay hidden, especially in dense algae structures, despite our strict quarantine efforts. 

    All macro algae will be thoroughly dipped in a professional solution to deactivate hitchhikers as good as possible before posting. If you don't want this, please send us a message together with your order.

    We highly recommend nonetheless that you properly quarantine anything new before adding it to your marine tank.
