                          Macroalgae for the Seahorse Aquarium

Welcome to the beautiful world of marine macro algae for the Display Tank & Refugium
Your 1st choice for Sustainable Grown Macroalgae Species in the UK since 2014

Do you like the idea of watching your Seahorse holding onto natural live macroalgae like they would do in the Sea in your very own Seahorse Aquarium?

With more than 40 different seahorse species worldwide the possibility to keep seahorses in a home aquarium became over the last years more and more popular.
Much more tank breed Seahorse species are widely available within the UK and nowadays the knowledge about how to keep them successfully in a marine aquarium is much more advanced than ever before.

Still, there are a lot of rumours about using marine macro algae for a Seahorse Aquarium, which we would like to explain more specifically and with that hopefully, make it more understandable why some macroalgae species are actually very beneficial for the comfort and health of your Seahorses.

While setting up a seahorse aquarium, it is important that certain things regarding water flow, the oxygen level and the fitting environment are thoughtfully considered, to care about them in the best way possible and to keep them happy and healthy.

As Seahorses will find comfort when they can hold themselves onto something, the presence of live macroalgae in the seahorse aquarium will add in a natural way those beneficial holdfasts for them. Surely you can reach this with artificial plants ar plastic holds fast too.

But can this really compete with the beauty of natural living plants in your aquarium?
Having gracile Seahorses full of personality in a beautiful natural looking marine aquarium isn't this answering this question by itself?

Yes, we are mad about macro algae! But the reason for this is that we know about all the benefits which comes with the use of macroalgae in the marine aquarium. And we received from our happy customers so many nice feedbacks and pictures of Seahorses holding onto their new live macroalgae, which made us even more proud and confident to recommend you the perfect macro algae for your seahorse tank setup too.

The following marine macroalgae / seaweed species have been proven as very suitable for a seahorse aquarium, as they provide the natural holdfast which Seahorses are looking for.

Some of the marine algae species might grow a bit faster, so please feel free to contact us before you place an order, to find the best marine algae for your seahorse aquarium.

All the macroalgae we sell are from our special Algae Tanks setups which are kept without any fishes for a disease-free and premium quality. This said, they might come with hitchhikers not limited to Copepods and Rotifers, as those beneficial critters love the protected environment of our planted marine tanks.

Beside of the natural holdfast, marine macroalgae will provide you as well all the other great benefits, like cleaning the water by reducing not just Nitrate and Phosphate from the water, and much more which we explain more in our FAQ part about macroalgae
